REVEREND DOCTOR CYRIL GERSHON KWAO FAYOSE - PRESIDENT

Rev. Dr. Cyril Gershon Kwao Fayose

Rev. Dr. Cyril Gershon Kwao Fayose, was born in Accra on Thursday, 25th November, 1965 to the late Mr. Walter Kwame Fayose of Woe and Mrs. Comfort Essie Fayose (née Fiadjoe) of Anyako.

In 1970, his family relocated to Madina (a new development) where his primary education began at Calvary International School (a newly founded private primary school).  He proceeded to Labone Secondary School and West Africa Secondary School, where, between 1977 and 1985, he completed his ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels.  As was the practice then, he worked at the City Engineers Department of the then Accra City Council for his pre-university national service.

  In 1986, he was admitted to the then Trinity College, Legon, (now Trinity Theological Seminary) to train as a Minister of the Gospel under the sponsorship of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana.  By May 1989, he graduated with a Diploma in Pastoral Studies from Trinity College and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Degree in Religion with Psychology from the University of Ghana.

Cyril was appointed Teaching Assistant to the Rev. Dr. Setri Nyomi in the area of Pastoral Care and Counseling at the Trinity College, Legon and pursued his Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at the University of Ghana from 1991 – 1993.  Between 1993 and 1995, Trinity College awarded him a two-year scholarship to pursue a one-year Master of Arts in Religion (MAR) Degree at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa in the United States of America with a year of residency in Clinical Pastoral Education at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa, USA. On returning to Trinity College, Cyril taught Pastoral Care and Counseling for one year. In 1996, Cyril gained admission to the then Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary (later Luther Seminary) in St. Paul, Minnesota, U.S.A., to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree in Pastoral Theology, which he completed in time in 2001.

In September 2001, Dr. Cyril Fayose was appointed Lecturer at Trinity Theological Seminary. He taught and conducted research in the fields of Pastoral Care and Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, Holistic Child Development, Ministry to the Aged and Dying, Clinical Pastoral Education, Pastoral Theology, Psychology of Religion, Conflict Management and Christian Spirituality. Besides teaching, he has supervised several Master’s theses at Trinity and University of Ghana. He has attended and presented papers at several local and international conferences, seminars and workshops. At Trinity, Cyril held several administrative positions.  He was Hall Master of Galevo Hall (2005-2006), Lecturer in charge of Evangelical Presbyterian Students (2004-2011), Vice President (2004-2006), and President (2006-2011). In his capacity as President, Dr Fayose also served as executive member of the Christian Council of Ghana and a member of the National Accreditation Board. He is also a board member of Glory Leadership Institute of the Assemblies of God Church. He has been an adjunct lecturer at the Department of the Study of Religion at the University of Ghana, School of Theology Mission at Central University College, and the STEE program at Pentecost University College.

Rev. Cyril Fayose was commissioned in 1989 and ordained in 1991 into the Holy Ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ as a Minister of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana and was assigned to serve the Rev. Paul Wiegrabe Parish, Nima (a newly created parish carved out of the Latebiokorshie District), between 1989 and 1993.  He served the pastoral district of E. P. Church, Abelenkpe in 1995, served First Lutheran Church, Alexandria, MN in 1999, and served the E. P. Churches, Adenta and Legon as District Pastor (2001–2004) and continued at the Trinity United Church, Legon as the Minister in Charge (2004-2009).

Cyril Fayose is married to Mrs. Marylinda Semabia Fayose (née Aidam) and they are blessed with four lovely children (three daughters and a son), Selom Dzidzor Anna-Marie Awushie, Nukunu Marie-Claire Ameyo, Nalikem Alexander Korshie and Sedinam Freda Awo. In his spare time, Cyril enjoys good company, traveling, film, music, fine art, football and backyard gardening.
